MESSAGE FROM THE TEAM LEADER

Why we’re also a social enterprise

For years, non-profits have been at the heart of social change—working alongside communities and stepping in when governments and markets fall short and doing the hard work that needs to get done. But let’s get real, times have changed. The global funding landscape has shifted dramatically with governments in the GlobalNorth increasingly turning inward and focusing their tax revenues on domestic priorities. That old, dependable funding model isn’t cutting it anymore. We’ve entered a new era of uncertainty and instability.

But here’s the thing: we don’t do this work because there is funding—we do it because it’s right. And while this global shift has been disruptive, it has only reaffirmed my belief that our social enterprise model is the most viable path forward. I believed it then, and I believe it even more now.

That’s why we established BASEflow Services, BASEflow Construction, and BASEflow Products—three social enterprisesdesigned to support our mission and ensure the long-term financial sustainability of our non-profit work. These businesses helpcover operational costs and give us the freedom to pursue bold solutions that some might find too risky to support.

BASEflow Services provides consulting support and assessments to help governments, communities, and NGOs make smart, evidence-based decisions.

BASEflow Construction builds and rehabilitates water infrastructure to last.

BASEflow Products offers off-the-shelf water-related tools and quality testing kits to improve service delivery and quality assurance.

We know some may worry that “going into business” could distract us from our mission. But trust us, we remain community-driven, grounded in data, and focused on sustainable impact. Every penny we earn helps us to innovate and do more of what matters.

The world still needs non-profits. But we must evolve—without compromising our values. Strengthening our social enterprisemodel is how we continue to show up for the communities that count on us, now and into the future.

This is who we are—and who we choose to become.
