What a great way to end the year!

On Tuesday 7th December, Water and Environmental Sanitation Network (WESNET), a membership-based civil society network of NGOs working in the water, sanitation and hygiene space in Malawi, held its fourth Annual General Meeting at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe. Besides the voting of new boards and review of WESNET’s financial statements, the event also included a new slot on the program: NGO Awards in two categories namely Most Active NGO and the NGO with the most Impact in 2021. The criteria for selection were a combination of financial and technical support rendered to the WESNET secretariat during the past year.

For category of ‘The Most Active WASH NGO in 2021’, BASEflow emerged the overall winner with 4 runner-up organizations being World Vision, Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief, United Purpose and WaterAid.

For the category of ‘the Most Impactful NGO in 2021’, the award deservedly went to Welthungerhilfe, an International NGO working to fight hunger.

A clearly surprised Muthi, our Team Leader, received a trophy and certificate on behalf of the team from BASEflow. ‘I honestly did not expect to receive this award,’ he exclaimed. ‘The other organizations that received awards are doing a lot of admirable work and to be recognized among them is quite humbling. Thank you WESNET for the early Christmas present.’
The trophy and certificate have found a new home at the BASEflow offices as a constant motivation to the team that their tireless effort, toward building a world where no borehole runs dry, is being noticed.
Bring on 2022!
